Anyone who knows anything about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints knows of its oposition to marriage equality. And while small steps have been make to include members of the LGBTQ community with sources like mormonsandgays.org and anectdotes of particular wards that are especially inclusive, the Church's top leadership are not backing down on the issue.
Unfortunately, the Church's positions on traditional marriage coupled with its heteronormative culture, policies and doctrines can be incredibly damaging to our LGBTQ brothers and sisters. Aditionally, these factors make it harder for their voices to be heard.
We have a real problem here. A problem that is dividing families and communities. A problem that is breaking hearts and crushing faith and lead far to many to suicide.
To address this problem and understand the experiences of LGBTQ mormons, film maker Kendall Wilcox started collecting their stories. He and his team have spent the last 3 years collecting hundreds of stories from all over the United States. And now they're asking for help to fund the final stages of production. They've been collecting funds through Kickstarter and are really close to reaching their goal, but with only one day left, this is our chance to make sure that happens and help them get this film made.
