Loved this. I was first introduced to the radical nature of this parable by Neal Chandler in his 1991 Dialogue essay: “Book of Mormon Stories that My Teacher Kept from Me” https://www.dialoguejournal.com/wp-content/uploads/sbi/articles/Dialogue_V24N04_15.pdf, so this fall I am having my 12-13 year old SS class put on a stage production of the parable set in today’s world, and I think this version nails it. I had actually considered casting the Smaritan as a gay Mexican immigrant but decided it was just too much for that age group (and their parents) to handle. So we’re going to have a Muslim woman and a tatooed smoker rescue our hapless victim.
