About Alex:
Like many in the State of Utah, Alex grew up identifying more with the Republican Party until he went on his mission to Ontario, Canada. Between 2004 - 2006, he found himself identifying more with the political left, and has since returning to Utah has come to believe that principles compatible with the Gospel are consistently found in the ideals of the political left.

He earned his Bachelor's degree in Political Science at the University of Utah, and his Master's degree in Homeland Security, specializing in Public Health Preparedness, from the Pennsylvania State University. He joined the LDS Dems blogging team in 2014, and its successor site, MormonPress, in 2015.
Aside from liberal politics, Alex enjoys learning about theology, sci-fi, and comic books. His favorite characters are Batman, Catwoman, and Harley Quinn. He will also quote Futurama all day with you if you give him the chance. You can find him on Twitter @alexgetts.
